is it my mistake...?

Hi All,

a thought crossed my mind when i was well...leave it..what matters is the thought...

So many of us,engineering graduates, from various streams have been placed in primarily one sector..i.e the IT sector..we have jumping from heaven to earth since we have got placed and even go around boasting about our placements..we haven't even spared a thought whether such a trend is a healthy one..

i am not suggesting that we should have flatly refused the offers from these IT companies bcos being employed these days seems to matter more than being alive..but it still irks me whether i have done the right thing or i wasn't even a player in the scheme if things...

Not just you, I am quite sure many others (myself included) will echo your thought.

"we have jumping from heaven to earth since we have got placed and even go around boasting about our placements"- I suggest you re-frame this sentence.

Moving on... The IT 'monopoly' if I may say so. I will consider us- as in, the 'E' students.

It is indeed a tad unfortunate that we have fallen into the IT well. But reasons? See... Institutes like the one we graduated from fall in Tier-II (however high India Today/Outlook/... etc rate it!) IT orgs are on the hunt for these institutes. As you already know, they recruit in bulk.

Core orgs are not bulk recruiters. And more often than not, they come to a campus only to skim the cream.

Let us look at it from a University's point of view. The university will want to get most of it's students placed, right? So, what will they do? They will try roping in these IT orgs. You may say, the students should give it a serious thought before taking up the placement offer. But, students are victims of circumstances as well.

"Risk appetite" will probably sum things up here. Not many will feel like venturing out when they know IT means money...

Dude... It's grammatically inconsistent. I get the pun, though.
